mm had 2 awful days, consecutively, yesterday and today.

yesterday started ok. the awful thing happened in the afternoon when mm had to attend a meeting with "expert" and client. mm and her partner meant to meet with the expert at 4pm and client to join at 5pm, as we want to consider and if necessary, filter the expert's findings. make sense, right? The expert did not come until 4:30pm - no calls, no apology. when mm called him on his mobile, it was switched off. client arrived on time at 5pm and mm's partner only joined in the meeting after knowing that the client had arrived! And, there's no excuse. pure boldness and being stupid!

the meeting went on until around 9pm - total waste of time. told sf about it today when we spoke and said it very much reminds mm of the meetings she had with batman and robin and others in her old firm. The expert spent a long time explaining detailed transactions (you probably guessed the area of his expertise now). mm and her partner found themselves asking, time and again, "is your point this?" "is your point that?" it could had been done in 2 hours, definitely under 3 hours, but it took 4 and a half! mm blames it on her partner though, as he was unable to control the expert and was nowhere near leading the meeting.

mm planned to prepare for her presentation yesterday and she only spent 2 hours on it.

So yesterday was an awful day.

Today, something even more awful happened. The background is mm prepared a draft email for her partner's and he came back with some comments. He asked to discuss them with mm, so mm went to see him. There was something in mm's draft which the partner said he did not like it. mm suggested an alternative. The partner said "no." mm offered another. The partner said "no." mm asked "how do you want to put it?" as there was no explanation to why he said "no." He said the point was this (but in fact he did not explain it at all). He went on to say, "well, I want you to think about it. It's probably easier for me to write it down but I want you to think about it." mm replied, "ok" as she just wanted to move on and leave the room. The manner in which her partner said that was so bad, that mm just wanted to walk out, career or no career. He was like a kid - whatever you offer, he said no and at the same time, he was not able to tell you what's wrong with your offer, or what is it that he wants! Really, mm thought, "that was it."

mm then had a meeting and it cooled mm down a little. mm told her friend sam, and later in the evening, sam bought a bar of "timeout" and a small gift for mm. how wonderful - high point of mm's day!

mm had "lunch with management." naively, mm thought it's another chance to raise improvements to be made in this firm, but it turned out to be a lecture by the managing partner about the vision of the firm, that he is working on a book on the firm and each of us will receive a copy. not sure if it's for free ... with this firm, you can assume nothing!

it's tuesday and only a few more days to go before bb's back. bb said she had received very nice comments from people, complimenting on her writings. mm too! mm smiled, laughed or felt sad while she reads bb's entries. whilst reading those entries, mm actually feels what bb felt at time of writing them.

mm hopes that in the coming days, all bb's entries will be filled with laughs and happiness, and less "quiet life" although mm is a pretty boring person ... hope bb will put up with it. :)
